Qualitative Face Fit Testing

It is a pass/fail test that uses a taste indicator solution (such as Bitrex or Saccharin) to check whether contaminated air can leak into your mask. If the wearer can't taste the solution during a series of controlled exercises, the mask forms an adequate seal against their face.

Under UK health and safety legislation, employers must ensure that respiratory protective equipment is suitable for the wearer and the task.

Our team has completed accredited face fit tester training, allowing us to carry out testing in full accordance with current Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance. Every individual tested receives documented proof of their result.

We test a wide range of tight-fitting, disposable and reusable respirators, including:

- Disposable masks: FFP1, FFP2, and FFP3 filtering facepieces
- Reusable masks: Half-mask respirators

Face fit testing is vital whenever workers rely on tight-fitting masks to protect against dangerous airborne substances, including:

- Silica, wood, metal, and construction dusts
- Welding fumes and paint spraying mists
- Mould spores and biological hazards
- Any hazardous chemicals covered by COSHH regulations
